Excusez-moi, Monsieur, comment dit-on en Francais?

Bonjour de Paris! Let's see... where did I leave off? Ok, Tuesday morning, we headed out to class and got out of class around 12:30. Then, Kojo (the professor from UT for the 200-level class that's here with us) told us all about this place where we could get lunch for 2 Euro. We all jumped at that idea because food is very expensive here. *Sidenote- I should have loaded my Visa Travel card with more money because the food is ridiculously expensive*. Oh well! So, all 30 of us strolled down Le Boulevard Saint Michel in a huge procession looking awkward and totally American :). It's ok, though, because the lunch was good for only 2 Euro. After that, Katie, Orie, Paul, and I took the RER (cross between a train and metro) to the Latin Quarter. We decided to be completely tourist-y and go into all the souvenir shops. Paul and Orie wanted French soccer jersies anyway so we did some souvenir shopping. It was fun. Then, we headed towards La Bastille for a afternoon group excursion. We met at this beautiful golden flame erected for Princess Diana since she died in the bridge underneath where we were standing. I said a prayer for her and her sons :). We boarded our cruise boat to have a boat tour of the city down the Seine River (which runs through the middle of Paris). It was very informative and interesting but the weather was horrible. Plus we had a herd of what we refer to as the "Asian Invasion" on the boat getting in the way of our pretty pictures-- they're EVERYWHERE! HAha! After the boat ride, we all split and went to get ready for the soccer game. Gabriel (our director) got us tickets to the France-Columbia soccer game. It was AWESOME... David loves soccer so I took lots of pictures for him and thought about him the whole time :). Miss you, Dave! France won, so all was good.... After the game, a bunch of us went out to a bar in the Latin Quarter. We had one 12 Euro (yes, that's a 18 DOLLAR drink) beverage and headed home for the night. It was great fun, though, getting to see the soccer game.
This morning (Wednesday), Katie moved in to our apartment after class. Madame got a little bit angry because there was some confusion about when Katie was supposed to come to stay. Somehow the information was miscommunicated... it was no fun. I felt like in the middle but I didn't want to be :(. All is well, now, though because Gabriel called Madame. It's just another example of how different this place is. It's too hard to even explain how everything is completely different- the people, the way of life, the culture, everything! Anyways, after our little mishap, Katie and I walked to a Boulangerie (deli/sandwich shop) and got a sandwich and a bottle of wine. We took the wine and sat outside the Louvre and wrote in our journals.
The Louvre was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I saw the original Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo... I can't even describe that. It was breathtaking. All of the art was amazing. It made me feel very humbled. Our tour guide was awesome, as well.
After the Louvre, Katie, Rachel & I went to China town to look for fake Louis Vuitton purses. We were unsuccessful, though. Our theory is that they thought we were cops so they didn't want to tell us that they had them. Haha! We RACED back to Madame's for dinner and had another meal. It was good but very interesting. Madame's rule is that you MUST atleast TRY everything. I couldn't help from laughing at Katie, though. She's very picky eater and I told her about Madame's food before she moved in. Madame made rare, I mean rare, steak, tomato salad, and strawberries. Oh, and she made us try pate (a French spam-like meat)-- no good! But I tried it. She was very nice to Katie, though, and everything went really well. Tonight, Katie, Jamie and I studied for our quiz and just hung around the house. I'm so excited to go to the Loire River Valley this weekend. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to put on my blog! I'm going to go to bed, now. A prochain fois! Au revoir!
